Hi @Dreamy @Jynx @StuF @PeppyPatti @Bunniekins @Chasingsunsets @AuntGlow @tyme @TAB @Shaz51 @rav3n @Snowie @RiverSeal and all forumites here this Thursday afternoon. I hope you’re well and having a great day.

@Dreamy I hope you’re feeling better soon! Take it easy!

@StuF Enjoy your day!

As for me, I’ve had a day of resting and taking it easy in front of the tv with the tennis on and doing some knitting- a beanie for charity. Yesterday was full on with the first move to the storage unit with the removalists being paid for from a housing organisation that my housemate was able to gain for us. The removalists were very fast and efficient and I would recommend them again. They were able to ensure they packed the storage unit effectively so much so that I had half the unit free which I didn’t expect to happen because of all of our stuff in my garage so I’m now able to cancel the second storage unit and therefore save me $320 a month to put towards other expenses. My housemate is great at logistics and organising things so she oversaw the stuff from the garage to the truck whilst I sat inside and knitted a new kids jumper for charity- I find moving to be very stressful and overwhelming. She even found stuff in the garage from over 4 years ago that she thought she’d lost and can now use - old stationery they she’s going to use for uni. I even found some discontinued wool that I’m thinking of giving to charity as I’m not sure I’ll ever use it. My knitting needles have been my lifesaver during this whole moving situation with them to continue to be used with the final move on Monday with beanies and jumpers being my choice of knitted items. I’m also loving my eucalyptus spray which helps to distract me when I feel stressed or anxious. Doing word puzzles in magazines has also been helping as I find them to be challenging and a distraction for me with the added bonus of entering competitions to win prizes - no luck yet but I’m still hoping my luck will change soon!

What tools have you been using to help with your recovery journey?

Take care!

Dear @Jynx @Judi9877 @tyme @StuF @Dreamy

iv enjoyed reading you @Judi9877 I like reading about your flat mate @Judi9877 because instead of complaining you speak of strengths

I wish my youngest son would meet a lady like this :

not stressful

honest

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Lovely update @Judi9877 - fantastic that there is extra space available in the storage unit and that you can cancel the second one to save $$ too! 😎 Double-win.  So glad your housemate was able to help out with her strengths in organisation & logistics, especially after the stressful time you had with the planning so far and the landlord/tribunal whilst she was not coping. I love that you could sit back and knit which helps you to regulate, and you could rely on her for those tasks which are extra stressful for you. 😍.

@Mustang67 Honestly, the 2nd, 3rd and 7th ones hit me very hard regarding childhood trauma — most of it comes from what I’ve experienced in primary school (also high school but primary school was worse) and also what I’ve sometimes experienced from my own parents back then

The part about healing attachment issues on the 7th one is something I’ve had for almost all of my life. Even to this day, I still have difficulties forming proper connections with others and there’s been a lot of instances throughout my life where I’ve chose to end friendships & dissociating myself from everyone even those that are part of my family.

Well fast forward to now, my mum is the only person I still connect with but not my dad and my sister…my sister is non-verbal & is low functioning autistic. however, when I was young I used to do things to her that i now wish I should’ve not done because that’s the main reason she’s been continuously scared of me ever since then & looking at how she’s been towards me for all these years (her being scared of me which made me super angry and upset each time) I don’t see things ever getting better in terms of our relationship.

Don’t worry though I have already moved out of home & am living by myself. The last time I saw my sister was only during New Year’s Day in 2025 (Jan 1 2025).

On top of all that, I’ve been having what’s called ‘celebrity worship syndrome’ or ‘idol worship syndrome (I’ve learnt that that’s an actual thing but still yet to be considered as a clinical condition) that’s been part of the majority of my life…a lot of that has to do with me choosing to dissociate everyone from my life & struggling to accept reality because things that are shown in the media are portrayed as ‘perfect’ & that has been like my coping mechanism…
