Re: Functioning with ADHD

Sensory toys can be great, can't they? @creative_writer

I also find being wrapped up in my blankets soothing as well.

I want to come back to the idea of creativity as your outlet - are you working on any projects or exploring any hobbies at the moment? 🎭🎨

Re: Functioning with ADHD

hey @creative_writer how are you going this morning? keen to also know if you've got some creative projects going^ i'd love some ideas for myself!

Re: Functioning with ADHD

Also... BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES!! Are you doing anything nurturing or fun for yourself today? @creative_writer 💛

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@AuntGlow @rav3n I'm working on the SANE Newsletter piece. I've also been attending zoom ND Creative Writing events. I just go to the events and observe, I feel too shy to talk. I also found another free creative writing event which I might try to go to.

My stomach certainly feels better than before, still not quite there yet. It'll probably take time, I hadn't realised I was sensitive to gluten until recently. Still fatigued and tired, but I think I need to give myself time. I am hoping I am able to eat cake with peace today and hopefully don't have any major reactions. The infection irritation isn't bothering me as much today, so maybe I am on the mend

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@AuntGlow I will be having cake 😁, still trying to figure out which one to get. I will be going out for birthday meal on the weekend at a Persian restaurant. I am also thinking of going to the shops to spend my birthday vouchers

Re: Functioning with ADHD

Oooh, amazing! So, lots of creative writing by the sounds of it. 🤩 @creative_writer

How does it make you feel when you are in those more creative environments? And do you notice any shifts in how you feel when you're in the 'flow' of writing?

What is your favourite kind of cake/dessert? I love tiramisu.

I have never had Persian food, that sounds divine!

What shops are the vouchers for? How fun!! I want to hear about what you buy please. 🥳

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@AuntGlow I can't seem to support posts right now, not sure what is going on.

It's lovely being in those creative environments, I find it really hard to connect with others, but it is easier to writers.

I'm going to have regular chocolate mud cake. I do have a thing for homemade cake, my supervisor on placement made a really nice chocolate cake, my aunt also made a really lovely fruity cake when I was visiting.

Persian food is lovely! I have vouchers for Myers, David Jones, Review, those kind of shops

Re: Functioning with ADHD

hey @creative_writer hope you had a nice birthday yesterday! did you end up having cake yesterday, or is that being saved for the weekend celebration?

those ND Creative Writing events sound interesting! what sort of things do they touch on? do they different topics for each zoom session? are you expected to workshop a piece in these sessions?
i did a creative writing class in uni once, i found it quite hard but super helpful, i think my fav part was honestly reading various pieces/styles.

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@rav3n I had cake, though I did react to it so I'm super foggy, anxious and my stomach feels gross. The shop didn't have any full gluten free cakes. I only had a small piece of the cake, but won't be eating anymore. I don't actually eat much cake, I generally don't enjoy it as much as my family. I probably need to find a tasty gluten free cake. Might need to go from low gluten to gluten free diet.

ND writing events are free, they touch on strategies for writing (while taking a ND perspective). We are not expected to share our work, they are informal like sessions. It is lovely reading others' work

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@creative_writer sometimes i wonder if i might be sensitive to gluten too... i developed really bad eczema on my face earlier this year, and since then i've noticed certain foods and stressors makes it flare up. i've been looking into low histamine vs high histamine foods and its been quite interesting, there seems to be evidence building about the link between histamine content in food and flare ups.

have you done an allergy test before?

ohh i see! that's really cool. i like informal events, it takes a bit of the pressure off and makes learning more enjoyable. is writing something you want to pursue later? or is it more of a personal interest/hobby?
