Re: Functioning with ADHD

If you feel really bad, would you call psych triage @creative_writer ?

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@tyme I would if I needed it. I’ve away found it to be a mixed bag (dependent on who you get), but I know the option is there.

Maybe one day I’ll stop feeling worthless, like damaged goods and dirty. I just don’t think I’m there right now

Re: Functioning with ADHD

I'm glad you know the option is there @creative_writer .

You know yourself best and what works best.

Remember, you are brave. You are strong. You are POWERFUL!

Re: Functioning with ADHD

It's definitely easier to support others, isn't it? But can we practice supporting you? @creative_writer

If you can, place one hand on your heart and another on your belly, and say, "I want to acknowledge how hard you are trying and how brave you have been." Just once. And notice what comes up. What beliefs, fears, or defences arise when you are kind to yourself - those are the things we are looking to heal most. (And you will)

I hear you on this, thank you for always being so honest about where you are at. Is a conversation about this old medication possible?

That's okay! Hmm... what about movement? Can you shake your body and allow for some release? Does that feel safe/doable?

I understand, I know it's a big decision.

I really encourage you to come back to writing - have you been working on anything this week? 💛

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@tyme I hope SANE gets their drop ins in running again, it was my preferred helpline. There are other helplines, a lot of them are mixed. Reaching out for support can still help sometimes.

@AuntGlow I think talking to child self might work better.

I’ll have to have a conversation around medication since it’s currently not working.

I might try exercising tomorrow to release it, it feels too late, might try to get some sleep.

I haven’t written anything this week, I didn’t have the capacity to attend the workshop this week. I was way too exhausted, hopefully next week

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@creative_writer I love that you know what will work better for you right now, that's so wonderful to see. How did the inner child work go? And did you manage to discharge some energy through exercise?

I understand, it can be hard to be creative when we are in survival mode... something I have been doing when I feel this way is turning to voice memos and just allowing myself to speak freely whatever is coming up for me. Have you tried this? 💛

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@AuntGlow I’m going to try to exercise tomorrow, I’m getting some stuff through the mail to help me.

It’s hard writing. I have some pending tasks to do but my brain is too exhausted, I do need to get them done slowly, I have deadlines to meet

Re: Functioning with ADHD

Why is it every time I think about how I feel in my body, it always ends up badly?

Re: Functioning with ADHD

No sure @creative_writer .

Any idea why from your side? Does your gut tell you anything?

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@tyme I feel the body flashbacks whenever I think about my body. So I try not to think, but that means disconnecting from myself
