Re: So sick of being overlooked

I’m so sorry to hear of your struggles @PinkPlantLady @Violacorso .

Unlike you @Violacorso , I left NSW in search of more support in VIC - and thank god I found it. I was supported as an outpatient by Spectrum - a personality disorder specialist clinic.

To this day, I’m in awe that a treatment program could make me so different - for the better.

When I was in NSW, I was always dismissed as ‘fine’ because I could hold down a job. If only they knew the internal pain I was in. The hospitals told me I had BPD, then really just left me. It was one of the most painful times of my life. I felt so helpless, so isolated and so neglected.

Looking at it now, I believe pdocs simply have no idea what to do with people who have BPD.

@PinkPlantLady @Violacorso , have you looked at Project Air’s website? They are/were looking for people with BPD to participate in free 6 weeks of group therapy led by a clinician and peer support worker. I believe it is online. So I guess it’s a start?

For me, I found group therapy the hardest, yet most effective part of my treatment for BPD.

Please don’t give up @PinkPlantLady @Violacorso . Life is waiting for you.

Kindest, BPDSurvivor

Re: So sick of being overlooked

I completely understand what you are saying. I have been told my mental health is all in the past but how can someone else say that about me? I was in hospital at the start of the year and met a few people in there, all came out with a BPD diagnosis. I have been at my worst recently but know there’s no point in a hospital visit because they will see BPD and shrug me off. My psychologist told me they shouldn’t be diagnosing that when they’ve only seen me in a crisis state but that’s just how the system works now. I am involved in a DBT program though I struggle with wanting to implement those skills when in such a bad way. Really I just want you to know you aren’t alone, I get it and it sucks but it’s true, as others have said the system is over run so probably just easier to turn everyone away with a BPD diagnosis
