Poem - You: TW: Depression/Anxiety/Suicide

This is a poem I wrote recently, and it goes through the insights of someone who is describing being there for someone who is dealing with trauma.

YOU

I really know how you are feeling,
And that you are not quite right.
But I will be right here with you,
You will make it through the night.

If you feel like there is nothing left,
Call to tell me what you are feeling.
I will help you the best that I can,
So, I can put a stop to the hurting.

Always remember life is so important,
That you are cherished always and ever.
For when the darkness comes to get you,
We will always face it together.

If you ever feel alone or by yourself,
Remember your friends and family.
For when it comes down to the pinch,
They will be there to help you gladly.

You can make it through, this I know,
Now you just need to believe it too.
It is when we are having these good thoughts,
That happiness comes to see us through.

So, if you think there is nowhere to turn,
And everything is weighing a ton.
You can simply try to think of this,

You…no longer…have to run.

Re: Poem - You: TW: Depression/Anxiety/Suicide

I love your poem, well done. It made me remember my attempt at poetry during lockdowns:

I'm truly sorry to hear of the pain,

That haunts a boy, now grown, from past's domain.

Complex, the scars that linger and persist,

In shadows deep, the memories resist.

From tender years, in innocence betrayed,

He carried wounds that never seemed to fade.

A child who suffered in silence and despair,

Invisible chains, a heavy burden to bear.

Haunted by echoes of those cruel days,

His heart still aches in myriad painful ways.

But in the darkest depths, he finds his might,

To heal, to mend, to step into the light.

For though the road is long and fraught with tears,

Within him lies the strength to face his fears.

With therapy and love, he'll surely find,

A path to peace, to leave the past behind.

Complex post-traumatic stress, it's true,

Is like a storm that rages, never through.

But with support and courage, he shall see,

A brighter dawn, a future finally free.

So let us stand beside this brave young man,

As he confronts the pain and makes his plan.

To heal his wounded heart, to rise above,

And find the peace and self-compassion, love.
