Thanks very much for the affirmations @MissGremlin . Right now, I do need them as this past week has been a very bad week for me mentally to the point where I’ve developed psychosis again because of the stress of my living situation at uni. It has turned bad for my friend to the point where they’re going to make her homeless because of some stupid complaints by 18 year olds who can’t understand differences. She’s got mental health services involved with both the police and ambulance service laughing at the uni for doing what they’re doing to her - it’s possibly illegal behaviour on behalf of the uni according to the housing service she’s linked into so the uni need to be very concerned. Let’s just say this uni housing provider has failed in their duty of care towards me with my uni lecturer having to step in and help me on Tuesday when things took a very bad turn for me and the residential wellbeing officer failing to act on clear warning signs which could be another legal case should I choose to proceed with it. The mental health service told me on Wednesday afternoon that because of what’s happening to me with the psychosis and my safety - other residents causing issues such as now hiding the tv remote to stop me using the tv and the psychosis (voices) being part of the other residents- that it may result in an admission which I’m happy to accept. It all depends on my status on Wednesday when I have an appointment with the community mental health team. The last time this stuff happened, it was a 10 day stint and a medication change back in 2021 which was brought on by the stress of COVID lockdowns in Melbourne and then a 2 week stay at PARCS as well. This episode didn’t need to happen if the uni housing service had listened to my friend and I about the residential issues such as bullying and took us on our word instead if that of 18 year olds who have no life experience and don’t like people being different with medical issues and whom laugh at emergency services coming to the residence (mostly nursing students which makes this even worse and are the students causing the most trouble for us). My lecturer on Tuesday didn’t want me to return to my uni residence because he felt it wasn’t safe for me but had no options but to let me leave class and go there. He even went out of his way to call me later on Tuesday afternoon and get me help as he actually listened to me (unlike uni residential wellbeing) and act on my issues by contacting the after hours mental health services who called me later on ( I was able to delay a trip to hospital on Tuesday night) and again on Wednesday morning with the head of residential wellbeing calling me on Wednesday morning and taking 7 hours to contact psych triage because of my behaviour. Luckily I was able to avoid a hospital admission on Wednesday afternoon but psych triage know about the situation and aren’t happy with me living at my current residence. This could all change on Wednesday when I have my appointment though. The uni housing service wouldn’t even listen to a psychiatrist about my friend when he called them and instead have said she has to leave and they don’t care if she’s homeless. They did offer her 2 weeks temporary accommodation in a disused accommodation facility at the uni on her own and isolated and segregated away from other students as they believe she’s a risk to other students because of her medical needs which the housing service said is illegal under many laws here in Victoria but they said that’s her only option as all of a sudden, they’re concerned about her being homeless - tokenistic behaviour by the uni housing provider- which the housing service said they are in a lot of legal trouble because of this. My friend is now in hospital with suspected sepsis and an operation due to happen soon yet the uni housing service wants her out on Monday afternoon despite not being able to use 1 arm which she is in danger of losing yet the uni housing services believing is not serious and not a suitable excuse to not move out. Ambulance and police services and the housing service she’s linked into have other beliefs with the police calling the ambulance last night because of her arm situation and don’t agree with the uni housing service at all.
Sorry for the long rant! I’m not well and needed to get it all out. I’m safe at the moment.
Let’s just say my knitting needles are getting a major workout in the form of knitting jumpers and beanies along with my 4mm crochet hook with me doing granny squares for a cardigan. Luckily I’ve got a decent supply of wool to do all of this as well as 5 balls of Merino wool I recently purchased to knit myself a new jumper - merino wool is very expensive but will be worth it when I finally knit the jumper for myself. I’ve also been doing lots of journaling of my thought and feelings which my lecturer told me to do and to keep a record of events of what is happening to me at the uni residence. It’s also good practice for my future job as a social worker as reflection is a vital skill that is now required as part of the job.
Time to go. Thanks for reading this.
