Re: Hi

@Appleblossom it's not something I talk about very often.

Hope you're doing well beautiful ❤️.

Re: Hi

Hi @NPWM, I'm glad you'll give them a try.

Even though they are in Sydney, they do a lot of online and telehealth stuff.

So has possibility of being helpful for anyone in Australia.

They do run some face-to-face programs as well.

I do not live in Sydney.

Obviously the SANE forum is also for people to chat and you might find it helpful chatting to other people.

I find that with people who have not worked in the field it's difficult because you don't want to upset them so hard to know what to say at times. I have definitely become more isolated as I aged and definitely since retirement.

I don't know if you feel as though you have some moral injury due to the limits of what can be done for people within the healthcare/emergency services systems. The system does not meet societal expectations and sometimes that is directed at individual workers. And some people are just not nice, despite you trying to assist them, their relative or friend.

Re: Hi

@TheoBromine I don’t know if I have always been antisocial or I am now set constantly in fight mode that I would rather stay at home.

I am very careful not to disclose to much as I am wary that it could trigger others.

I will see if I can get a telehealth appointment.

in relation to the scares I can recall several incidents that have left a mark. I feel it has got even worse with everyone now recording our actions

Re: Hi

Thank you

Re: Hi

@NPWM if you go to the website from that link in my first post it will take you through how to get connected to services.

It's understandable with the build-up of constant first line work you would be in a constant hypervigilant state of fight or flight.

Yes, it has always been difficult with onlookers but I feel a new level, not just with phones, but lack of respect seems to have increased

Re: Hi

@TheoBromine It’s better here in Australia but the abuse I got from members of the public was unreal.

thank you I will definitely reach out

Re: Hi

Hello there @NPWM

Nice to meet you here where I have found much needed solace and understanding form the great folk who contribute to these forums.

There is absolutely no judgement here, only the support of peers with lived experience.

It's hard to open our hearts particularly when we my feel vulnerable and, to put it plainly, quite raw.

I welcome you and welcome the opportunity of travelling the road with you.

Go gently ️

Re: Hi

Welcome @NPWM !

Great to have you with us.

If you aren't yet part of SANE's Recovery Club, you can have a look here: https://www.sane.org/recovery-club to see if it suits your needs.

We're all here for each other. I'm hearing how lonely it gets sometimes.

I reckon I'm pretty antisocial in real life. I guess I just like my quiet time.

Re: Hi

@tyme @Thanks for the link I will have a look now
